Vacancies for Volunteers February 2019

Counselling Vacancies

Qualified Counsellors

If you are qualified, perhaps in employment or running a private practice but you would also like to make an important voluntary contribution to our community and help clients who are on a low income to access counselling, we would welcome your application.

We understand that some people have more time to offer than others, and any time commitment is appreciated. If you are able to see just one client per week it would help our team to reduce the waiting list and waiting times.

Chair

The current Chair of NLCS will be standing down in September 2019. We are looking for someone with managerial experience or previous experience of working with a management committee, with understanding of the voluntary sector and charity work.

This is a very interesting and fulfilling role, well suited to someone retired or semi-retired with time and energy to spare for a good cause that vitally supports our community.

You would not necessarily need a counselling background, but an understanding of our organisational values, objectives and ethical responsibilities is essential. Fundraising and funding application experience would be advantageous, but not essential. You would need to have good communication skills in order to take an active overview of all areas of our work and to make sure things are running smoothly, and above all that everything we do is in alignment with our values and our mission statement.

The current Chair will be happy to provide help and guidance to anyone successful in applying for this role. Please apply to

Trustees

We are looking to strengthen our Management Committee with the addition of at least 2 new Trustees. We are especially looking for people with successful experience in fundraising and bid writing.

Please note that NLCS is a CIO, and there will be no financial liabilities on the part of our Trustees in any event.

If you are interested, please apply to Margaret O’Neill via

Statistician

Our Statistician will be leaving in April. We need someone who has worked with statistics, but not necessarily advanced or complex statistics. This person would collate statistical information from client data [evaluation and demographic data] and enter it onto our computer system. They would also collect and enter quarterly statistical information from our counsellors via email, using a chart which they would complete from their records and return to you.

The job would represent only a few hours per month, and will eventually be streamlined through a web application which is developed by our current Statistician and in process of being rolled out. While he is still here over the next 6 to 8 weeks, our Statistician is happy to provide guidance about this role and also the role detailed below, which can be combined with the Statistician role if you wish.

You would need to be accurate and thorough. You would also need to be fully aware of the need for compliance with GDPR practices and legal responsibilities in safeguarding the confidentiality, privacy and security of sensitive client data.

If interested please contact

Counsellor Co-ordinator (CC1)

This role can be combined with the above Statistician role, and is currently being done by the same person.

It involves taking statistical information from client referral forms completed by our telephone team. They pick up messages on our answering service on a rota basis, and call clients back to ask them some questions and fill in the referral forms. The data is entered onto the system, then you would pass the forms to our Counsellor Coordinator 2 (CC2) who actually allocates the clients to suitable counsellors.

Information from telephone referrals is highly sensitive confidential data. You would need to be fully aware of the need for compliance with GDPR practices and legal responsibilities in safeguarding the confidentiality, privacy and security of sensitive client data. As above, you would also need to be accurate in processing the statistical information. Experience with statistics is required but does not need to be advanced or complex – accuracy and data security are more important.
